Hareem Farooq was born on the 26th May, 1992. She started her career in theatre in 2009 from Islamabad in a theatre play called flight 420. From there onwards she went on to producing her own plays (Act 144) to performing in Anwar Maqsood’s Pawney 14 August and Aaghan Terha in lead roles. Usually the next step for any aspiring actor is television but Farooq bagged the lead role in the acclaimed psychological-thriller Pakistani film Siyaah released in 2013 which won the Best Screenplay Award in the 1st ARY Film Awards and a nomination as Best Actress in Lux Style Awards in the same year. Post film release, there was no looking back for Farooq who then ventured into television with multiple hit drama serials including Mausam, Dusri Biwi, Diyar-i-dil to her credit and went on to bag Best Television Sensation in Hum Awards 2015. In 2015, she became the first female actor to become a producer by joining her childhood friend and business partner Imran Raza Kazmi, as a Co-Producer in IRK Films. Together they produced Janaan in 2016, Parchi (film) & Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka (drama serial) in 2018 and Heer Maan Ja in 2019. She is also the Co-Producer of a joint company IHA Entertainment, which includes Imran Kazmi and Arif Lakhani.
She has been one of the judges on the popular reality show Miss Veet Pakistan in 2017 and the official L’Oreal Professionnel’s spokesperson, she also represented Pakistan in their 110th Anniversary which took place in Paris in 2019.
In 2018, Farooq turned not only heads but also dropped some jaws with her steller performance in Parchi with a hit performance on the song Billo Hai. She was also the first female celebrity to host Pakistan Super League in the same year.
Currently, she is the brand ambassador for ‘Elephone’, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer in Pakistan and their product VIVO V17, she is also the face of the Swiss luxury watch brand ‘EBEL’. Her latest film Heer Maan Ja has been nominated in 5 categories in Pakistan International Screen Awards happening in Dubai in February 2020 with Best Picture, Best Actor Lead Male & Female, Best Director, Best Cinematographer categories.
